The above reviews need to be a little more detailed. Yes, the pitas
are wonderful. The Chicken Artichoke and the Feta Gyro Pitas
are the best two. Yes, the starters are also outstanding. Try
any of the potato skins or the Dill Feta or Spinach Fritters (Puffs).
Yes, the pasta dishes are massive and almost always need to be
shared. Yes, there is a great varitey of wonderful desserts.
The Baklava Cheesecake is better than the Baklava. The White
Chocolate is the best of the brownies. Do not try the Creme Brulee
or the Mousse. But no one mentioned the incredible calzones.
The spinach, the vegetarian, the sausage, take your pick. They
do take a little longer to come out of the oven (35 minutes-you
are warned on the menu).
Which brings us to EuroCafe's real down point: they have one of
the slowest kitchens that I have ever seen. Do not go there during
prime time if you expect a timely meal. The servers try to do good
service, but consistently spend a lot of their time telling you
your food will be here soon or apologizing because it isn't. It
can strain the patience of even the most loyal Eurocafe diner.
I finally need to mention Undici Undici, the coffee house and
club that is connected to the restaurant. (You actually enter
through Undici's doors.) All the desserts can be ordered over
the counter to accompany your double-mocha, espresso, or Undici
Sunrise. Some good local bands come and play the stage when they
can't find a gig anywhere else. The songwriter's showcase does
not provide much quality.
