The four star rating which I finally opted to give this restaurant (after much debating with myself) is based on the excellent food, the generous portions and the extremely reasonable prices. Do any of you remember how delicious Pete's Fish and Chips used to be when they were first starting out in the Valley of the Sun? That's how good the fish and chips at the Knock Kneed Lobster are today. I did not know what to expect, having never eaten here before, even though it has been around so long. I find it unfortunate that more people don't know about this restaurant because the food is better (truly) than Long John Silver's or Captain D's. The location at 32nd St. and Washington, which at one time may have not been a bad neighborhood, is not the greatest now. Even so, the food recommends itself.
One may choose from fish (baked, or breaded and fried) Mexican shrimp (a novelty to me), scallops, oysters, clam strips and even lobster "nuggets" breaded and fried. There are salads and a good assortment of side dishes which include but are not limited to fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, fried okra, steamed vegetables, and steamed rice.
They do have a family or large party menu of platters.
If you don't care for the location (somewhat seedy) or the fast food atmosphere (minus the big chains' polish), try it as take-out and enjoy the great tasting, well-prepared, "great-value-for-the-price" food at home.
They also have a Mesa location which I have not tried. less
