This is an average taqueria. They do have a decent menu selection. The atmosphere is very taco bell with uncomfortable hard seating in a mini-caffateria type setting. Their beverage selection is very poor & by the far the tiniest I have ever seen in a taqueria. They have all of 2 Jarritos flavors out of like 10 flavors Jarritos makes. They have Pepsi and Coke in bottles and water. I think they have a few beers too. I get the veggie supreme which is average tasting. A bit too watery & I'm not sure why. Drips everywhere! Like have a sloppy joe burrito! I do like that they provide warm tortilla chips and the idea of the mini salsa bar is cute but at the same time half ass as they only provide 2 salsa options one being super chunky and flavorless and the other so fricken hot and extremely watery w/ zero chunks it's inedible. I go here cause it's only a few blocks from me. Lines are usually long and when they're out the door it's not worth it. Serv ... more

This place is the best!!! The salsa and other homemade sauces are always fresh and the chips are made in-house as well. The super chicken burritos are fantabulous!!!! One of the reviewers above, allen furst, described the dining area as detestable but, it is actually just what it needs to be. It doesn't try to be anything more than a place to get great mexican food, have a beer or two, and not spend a fortune. Three Amigos does a lot of business and the tables are always cleaned right after people leave so you never have to sit at a dirty table. I have been going there for years and even when it is really slammed I have always found a place to sit.

The building is nothing fancy & most of their business is take out, but if you want a good burrito, this is the place to go. They have everything on the menu that you would expect to find at a taqueria. They also make fresh carrot & orange juice upon request.

I used to drive over the hill from Palo Alto just to get their jumbo burritos. I gave up and decided to move to HMB just to be closer. The carnitas is crispy and delicious, and the salsa is always freshly chopped. But the absolute best are the Ceveche Tostadas (fresh fish marianted in lime juice) which you can usually get on Fridays.

I agree that five stars is maybe too much for Three Amigos, but it _is_ the best taqueria on the 'Nins. I always go for the Veggie Burrito, which is enough to last you two meals, at a price around $3.50. Can't beat that! If you want to experience the same food in San Mateo, go visit their other store, on B street. Same great food, same quick serice, no surfer dudes.

A quintessential taqueria. I am a former Half Moon Bayer who would ;love to have their super vegetarian burrito. On-table extras are tasty. Weak point are chicken offerings. A place to meet surfing buddies or other moms. They never charge the same price twice even if you order the same food.

Our favorite taqueria. If you haven't been there lately, it's worth a trip to (try to) choose from their enlarged menu. Dish up your own chips and choose among five or six different salsas. Try the hot pickled vegetables, on every table. They've remodeledand I'm sure Mr. Furst wouldn't call it "detestable" now. As for the stars, I compare a place with others of its type, and as a taqueria, Tres Amigos gets four.

Food ranging from good to mediocre in a cut-rate fast food setting. I must in all good faith counsel against the burritos; these folks, while doubtless well-intentioned, have no idea how to construct one properly (cf. the Taqueria La Cumbre, San Francisco and San Mateo).

The ratings on this place are ridiculous. It's a tacqueria, for heaven's sake. A good tacqueria, to be sure, with an aggressively expanding menu and a detestable room to sit in. But a tacqueria nonetheless.
