Brocato's was on Carrollton prior to Katrina, a couple blocks
north of Canal Street (east side of the street). I do not know their post-Katrina
status, but let's hope they (have) come back! This is a family owned
business and ownership has been passed down in the family at least a
generation, maybe more. This clean, friendly establishment serves
the creamiest desserts; they serve true Italian gelato as well as ice
cream, canoli, cappucino (from an authentic antique brass cappucio
machine) and many other authentic Italian sweets and beverages. On
summer afternoons and evenings, you can bet the waiting line will fill
this little ice cream parlor - but it moves very quickly, and it is definitely
worth the minimal wait! I find I need the time to decide what I should
order! They have regular flavors as well as seasonal ice creams My favorites
are pear (seasonal) and rum raisin (regular), but I regularly try new
flavors because they are always delightful.

Brocato's moved out of its French Quarter location years
ago. It's now a Ben & Jerry's.
