The atmosphere is nice as well as the view, but I personally detest extremely "high class" restaurants whose waiters fail to critique the quality of the food in a language understandable to the average joe (i.e. like myself). The pricey food is not balanced by excellent quality, instead I found myself eating "ok" appetizers and favorless entrees. I definitely learned my lesson after consulting the website for a nice place to take a date: high prices do not always equal superior food. Overall I would have liked Baleen better if it had been about $20 cheaper per entree, not because I'm frugal, but because my taste bud's expectations for good food were not met.

While the prices aren't lean, the cuisine here is worth every pricey, precious penny. Oversize crab cakes, oak-smoked diver scallops, and steakhouse-quality meats are among Baleen's excellent offerings. The lobster bisque is the best on Biscayne Bay. Everything here is a la carte, so order wisely, as it tends to add up quicker than you can put your fork down. The restaurant's spectacular waterfront setting makes Baleen a true knockout. Request one of the few tables that are actually on the water's edge; lit with Tiki torches and an illuminated backdrop of Biscayne Bay, Baleen is the kind of restaurant that you'd expect a reality show like The Bachelor to use as the place where the happy couple expresses their love for each other.

The food was excellent and the view was spectacular. Would be a nice place for a romantic dinner. Was there with a business group and we all liked the food. Some in our group felt that the waiters were a bit uppity. Others thought they were fine so we were divided on the service aspect but not on the seafood choices.

I was invited for a dinner in Baleen, and it was a great dining experience. I tried many dishes and loved all of them. The atmosphere and the romantic view is fascinating.

The menu is small. The service is fair. The prices are high. The food is good but I expect great for the price.

Very expensive for me but it was worth it. I am a sea food lover and I have tried lots of different places around the world. This has to be one of the best places I have ever been to, but the most beautiful thing is the view.
