I went here looking for Yuki. I order Omakase. The sushi chef looks at me like I am from a different planet and points to the menue. I play it safe and get a bento box for lunch and a couple of orders of nigiri. The fish was old and not fresh. My tea was never refilled. The bento had salmon teriaki with sauce that probably says Kirkland on the can. The people, off standing and borderline rude. I then saw some type of restaurant management diploma on the wall. The last name was Park. I get it. New Korean owners. I will not be back. I know sushi and will travel and pay to eat the good stuff. So far not much luck in Fremont.

My wife and I used to enjoy this restaurant before it changed owners around Dec of 2000. We continued to go there, maybe out of habit for about a year. I must say that the new owners did not keep up with the quality of food or service as the previous owner.

I heard that they lost their great chef. We went recently and it certainly was not as good as it was before.

I don't know why people put $30-$40 for the average entree? Oh well, I just have to say I have been to every Sushi bar in Fremont and Palo Alto and this place is definately up top. The maguro is my favorite and South of SF it seems not to be very fresh, but Sei Sho has great Maguro and other fresh fish. I think a lot of it has to do with the Sushi chefs, they have been the best in the bay area in their prep and presentation. Overall the amosphere is kind of funky because it is an old weird shopping center, but the food makes up for the outside appearance . The service is also great! Nothing in Fremont compares for sure!!!!!!

I agree that this is not a 5-Star restaurant, but the sushi here surely is. I've been to numerous sushi bars throughout the Bay Area including the second rated sushi bar in San Francisco and still believe that Sei Sho is the best. Recently the ownership has changed and I was distressed, but was glad to find the same excellent service and fresh sushi as before. I highly recommend visiting Sei Sho and have always taken out-of-town visitors here. I try to visit at least twice a month, but it can get pretty expensive with a hardy appetite like mine!

A great place for sashimi lovers. Great fresh fish nothing better for sushi in that way. Considering the price paid for, its a whole big deal for such good food.

OK, this is not really a five star restaurant, but we are are talking Fremont here. I love sashimi and sushi and have been entertaining Japanese clients for years. This place rivals the best sushi restaurants anywhere on the West Coast. I have paid three or four times more than Sei Sho for ambiance, but have never found better fish. The medals behind the sushi chef(and owner) are for martial arts, not for sushi as suggested byanother review, but if they gave medals he would qualify. I dragmy sushi loving clients from Silicon Valley to Sei Sho wheneverI can. They always come back. This is one of those "in the know"places. If they did something about the decor and location youcould only eat by making reservations. Big portions, great value.

This is a small place with a nice atmosphere. It is an ethnic restaurant patronized by people of the type of food and that is a great sign that the food is good. The sushi chef has won awards for his work and they were well deserved. If one orders the deluxe bento there is plenty of food for a big eater. Don't be afraid if you don't like raw fish. Japanese food is more than raw fish and Sei Sho has a menu that includes teriyaki and tempura as well. Their tempura is not greasy as in some places. With the meal comes soup, salad, appitiser of soy beans, and they have a good selection of drinks from plum wine and saki to sodas and, of course, tea. This is our favorite restaurant in the Fremont area. Try it. All major credit cards accepted.
