After reading all of these great comments, I decided to give this
place a try.
Sushi was very disappointing and the sashimi lacked any taste.
Sushi rice was crumbly.
The tempura was quite flaky, though. This place is sorely disappointing
and I don't see why people
keep coming back. As a reference, my wife and I went to try Kisaku
on 4th Avenue in
San Mateo and had some of the best hamachi ever. Their service
was great and miso
soup tasted homemade. See review for Kisaku. Never going back
to Tokie.

Fresh, fresh, fresh!!! Tokie's is the only sushi place in
Foster City that combines fresh sushi with a great
atmosphere and crowd. Generally crowded on most days and
evenings, you can get great specialty rolls like the Shannon
Roll which seems to be a popular one. Can be a bit pricy but the quality makes it worth it.
Outside of sushi, they also have a nice selection of
Japanese food ranging from tonkatsu to teriyaki. Service is
average. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to go
during peak lunch or dinner hours.

good sushi but a bit pricey (compared to Isobune or
Miyake). Since there's a lack of great restaurants in
Foster City, Tokie's is pretty popular and crowded.

Go there in the evening, because for lunch it is not
uncommon to spend 45 min waiting until you get your
sushi - and its not even cooked :-)
Has some of the best sushi I have had on the peninsula.
The service is friendly.

Tokie's sushi is always fresh, and reliably delicious.
It's the best I've found so far in the area (Palo Alto to
Burlingame). And the aquarium is stunning. Sit at the
bar, if there's room.

The sushi is very good (4 stars); it's better than Isobune and
comparable to Sushi Sam.
The entree is average (2.8 stars). I don't remember it being good for Udon.
For good Udon, try Mifune or Iroha, both are in Japantown, SF.

You've got to travel quite a ways to get sushi as good
as Tokie's. Very fresh, delicious and pleasingly
presented. I've been eating there a lot lately.

Nice, friendly place. The sushi and the teriyaki dishes are
great. Also cool fish tank behind the sushi bar.

Great lunch specials, the Donburi is excellent, and
quite filling. The sushi is some of the best in the area,
and one should never leave without sampling the Shannon
Roll.
