I was able to go Substation on a visit to UCR. Great spot. I almost
considered going to UCR because of it. No, I'm kidding. But
it is that good.

Extensive, but odd, list of sandwiches - I imagine that one could
ask for a custom built sandwich, but I didnt try. I got a "Big Dude"
instead, which was ok for a sub but not amazingly impressive.
Was hilarious hearing the owner get on the restaurant mike to
tease someone who requested no "secret sauce" on her sandwich.
Was also given a warm feeling by that same owner when I asked for
a Michelob with my sandwich and was complimented on my taste.
Itty bitty little macaroni salad cups, I didnt know such things
were made that small. But the peppers were good. When a craving
for a sub comes on, this is a good place to go, but to get fed for under
$10 in the space of a typical lunch hour, there has to be a hundred
places on University Ave. to go to.

Substation is great. The subs blow away any others I've tried
anywhere. It is right by UCR, so it's perfect for a quick stop on
the way to class.
