Ok, so I was just down in LA in March and rated this place, but was there
again mid June so felt the need to rate it again. This is my favorite deli
in Los Angeles, and actually, in CA. Living in SF we have Max's,
but LA has a few of which Canter's is, in my humble opinion, the best.
I had potatoe pancakes, which were to die for. The matzah ball soup is
better than any you can make and the sandwiches are big enough for two
meals. The bakery is fantastic...we never leave to come back to SF without
buying bagel chips and egg twist, and this last time we bought some sweets
too. This place never disappoints. I recommend it highly.

I have been going to Canter's since I was a tiny child and in
the 28 years I have been eating there I have never left unsatisfied.
The food is fantastic, the prices are great and the staff is attentive!
Also don't leave without picking up a little something from
the bakery! I don't live as close to it as I used to be - but I
still manage to make it out there at least once a month.

This is the only deli I will eat in when I'm in Los Angeles.
It's an old fashioned Jewish Deli that has stayed the same
over the years. The sandwiches are loaded with meat, the potatoe
pancakes are great along with all the other Jewish foods that
they serve. I have never been disappointed with anything I have
ordered here. Don't leave the restaurant without stopping
at the bakery. I always buy some of their challah, and the bagel
chips are the best I've ever had. If you want good deli in LA,
this is the one to go to!

Always busy, and we know why. Good food and great service. A definite
must for late nights. The selection on the menu is incredibly
large--a little something for everyone.

I used to eat here alot, then it kind of went down hill. Over the
past year it's back the way it used to be. The people are nice
and the food is really good. (But the portions are sometimes too
much to eat.)
The main reason I like it is because it's been around so long
I feel comfortable going there. Overall, it's one of my favorite
places to go!

Pretty much a must while you're in L.A. if you like deli food
at all. Also a great place for late-night eats.

It's an LA Jewish icon, located in the heart of the Fairfax
district. The prices could be a little better on some items, but
what can you do? It's got its own post-war atmosphere (WWII),
waitresses included. Sandwiches and matzo soup are highlights
of the menu, which includes plates named after various Yids and
Gentiles from the past. Was probably a bit more family-oriented
years ago before the neighborhood started to change, but still
a must of Fairfax visitors.

Pull into nose gefilte reek, into eye dowdy pink-ridden decor
framing a celebrity, and into ear the acid commentary of Gehenna
momma waitresses..oy gewalt..and you know you are at Canter's.
Truly an experience for the senses, above all taste. The knishes
are a triumph, the noodle kugel a middle-finger to the arteries
delight. I fancy their baked eggplant dinner complete with salad
and dessert. Add a bottle of wine, and still stay below 25 dollars.
There is certainly better service and food elsewhere, but without
the unique experience of it all that keeps drawing me in.

Well, the name says it all. One of the oldest and still one of the
best delis in southern california. The corned beef on rye is the
best dish in the house. The fries, pickles, and soups are also
outstanding. The bakery also makes really nice desserts. This
place is the way things used to be. Simple and good. Hard to find
these days especially in plastic LA.

Always loved this place. Whenever I enter this place, it takes
me back to the 1970's (or maybe 1960's). I love their Cobb Salad
and Matzo Ball soup with bagel chips.
