One of my favorite restaurants to go to for a holiday meal. The filet
mignon is always cooked to perfection and is large. Expensive, but
very good.

Sunset is a quality restaurant , but not necessarily a place you
should go if you are hoping for a bargain on your meal. Expect entrees
to average between 15 and 20 dollars. For this type of restaurant
I feel they are a bit high by about $5 per entree. I feel from the
quality of the food they serve, that they are in a similar market
to TGI Friday's or Applebee's, maybe just a slight bit
higher. The $15-20 average entree cost puts them in a category
more like places like Buddy's in Annapolis, and some of the
"touristy" restaurants there.

I'll eat here once a year, or every other year but at the prices
they charge, I feel that I can find better food for the same prices elsewhere.

Sunset is a always a safe bet for a good meal at a reasonable price.
They have many trademarks including their relish dish, cream
or crab soup and their famous strawberry shortcake. I have always
gone back for their filet. They have a butter sauce that they put
on top that can't be beat. I would love to know what goes in it.
There are a few sticking points. Their side dishes leave alot
to be desired and it is bothersome that when a soda is ordered a
plastic bottle is brought to the table. Their hostesses are anything
but gracious(but they know their job)Despite the problems I
still find myself there from time to time so it can't be that bad.

Back in '98 I wrote a review of the Sunset for the Arundel Sun, entitled
"Years later, the Sunset is as sumptuous as ever--Generous:
Portions at the Glen Burnie restaurant are more than enough,
making side dishes-as tasty as they are-almost unecessary."
Basically, I remembered the restaurant from younger days when
my Dad received gift certificates to the restaurant from a particular
client. It was always a special occasion when we went.
It was great treating my Dad to prime rib (after garlic shrimp),
while I feasted on stuffed rockfish filled with crab imperial
flavored with Dijon mustard (after a great bowl of cream of crab
soup).
When we tackled our desserts-the well advertised monumental
Strawberry Shortcake and an absolutely heavenly pecan bread
pudding, our waitress, Bev-not Beverly, said "Good luck, gentlemen, "
as if she a commander sending flyboys on a mission.
I still remember the smell of that warm pecan bread pudding and
accompanying rum sauce ...

Sunset is a long-standing Glen Burnie landmark with excellent
Seafood, Italian and American entrees.
Their selection is huge and the servings are very ample.
They have a wide variety of beverages, including soft ice cream
desert drinks.
Their Cream of Crab soup is undoubtedly one of the best around.
