Good food and reasonable prices. You won't drop $100 for two people, and without a lot of wine, you can get out of there cheap. Good, basic, and dependable Italian cuisine.

Few restaurants create the overwhelmingly romantic mood that the Brass Elephant does, and that atmosphere keeps this Mount Vernon staple packed with satisfied diners. Chairs upholstered in rich rose share space with marble fireplaces, intricately designed teak, crystal chandeliers and Tiffany skylights to set the mood.
Pheasant terrine, ricotta-stuffed eggplant, and hearts of palm salad are satisfying appetizers. Black Angus filet, balsamic-glazed duck breast and fusilli with crab and shrimp are dinner favorites, and the Brass Elephant always has a vegetarian dish on the menu. Entrees are filling enough that you won't need a late-night snack, but easily eaten in time to make a performance at the nearby Meyerhoff Symphony Hall or Lyric Opera House.
Before or after dining, if time permits, visit the upstairs Tusk Lounge. Tusk bartenders are renowned for creating the hottest new drinks, so if you have a hankering for something exotic, just ask

WONDERFUL is all I can say. A little upscale but worth the price and the wait. I love this place. Food is not pre cooked.

A very nice restaurant. They have an interesting wine list (though a little expensive at times) and the food was wonderful. This place can be very romantic but is also a good place for impressing a client.

In a city known for its Little Italy, the best Italian food can be found miles away in the Brass Elephant. Restaurants in Little Italy all seem to serve the same, basic, traditional Italian fare, and it tends to get a bit boring. The Brass Elephant serves wonderful, inspired Italian food. Never just spaghetti with Marinara sauce and meatballs. The food is all well-prepared with fresh ingredients and has never been anything but impressive. The dining area is beautiful and rich, and has a nice atmosphere. If you want to go somewhere special for dinner but don't want to shell out the money for Hampton's, go to the Brass Elephant
