Spencer's Log Cabin Restaurant

...the waitress said matter-of-factly, "It was probably killt Monday." She had asked how our food was and i told her my Bacon Cheese Burger was really tasty, maybe the best I'd ever had and that the thick sliced smoked bacon was fantastic. To her puzzlement, we of course laughed out loud never having heard such words from a waitress before. We weren't from around there or would have known that the restaurant's owner had a slaughter house, too, where they processed all their own meats from local farms: steaks, ribs, pork shoulder, bacon, hamburger, etc. I had first ordered the BBQ Plate, which they had already run out of over the lunch hour. She questioned another waitress who ran off a list of other things that were presently on the smoker but wouldn't be ready until that evening. A little disappointed I ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger, and I never order BACON CHEESE burgers. But I was just in the mood. Man was I glad I did. I really want to head back up to T ... more

I really want to head back up to Tupelo, Miss., and try all there other menu items like the BBQ ribs and pork, their Rib Eye, chicken livers, (oh wait That was the first thing I asked about that they didn't have)and maybe their lunch buffet. they serve breakfast, too, which with that bacon I can only assume is great. My dining companions got a burger and a club sandwich. Oh, theirs looked tasty. Our plates were cleaned indeed. And those burger's tomatoes had to be local grown cause they were huge, thick and actually tasted like tomatoes. You wouldn't expect it from the looks of the plain Jane place. The industrial complexes around there are lucky to have such a gem so close by. GO. less
