Upscale restaurant. High traffic area. Has a large central stone work fireplace. Includes some interesting bric-a-brac. The indirect lighting glares off the stonework. Against the relative darkness of the rest of the room the contrast is hard on one's eyes. Also, the low light can make reading the menus impossible. (Remember to bring a flashlight!) Show up during "prime time" (6:30-9:00 P.M. Th.-Sa.) and there can be an hour's wait. Enough time to have ONE drink in their wall-to-wall, overcrowded bar. (The only restrooms in the restaurant.) Service during "prime time" is slower than paint drying. Show up BEFORE 'prime time' and one is seated immediately. Down side to this is one gets "THE BUMS' RUSH:" Air conditioning is cranked up to the point one might expect to see sides of beef in the restaurant area. ANYTHING that can be done to hurry one along so the waiter can "turn the table over." Entrees are delivered before one barely starts with his appetizer. The check is dropped off before one is asked if he wants coffee or dessert. NOTE: When a waiter serves 6 meals at a table versus 4, his income (tips) increases 33%!!! Wine list is of the variety of wines one could purchase at the supermarket. Food quality is only so-so. Never had a steak there we felt was exceptional. Several were not tender. Every time, steaks are OVER-seasoned. (-And we like flavorful meals!) Steaks are smaller and of less quality than the better steaks served at 'family steak houses.' Nobody in our groups ever tried desserts so we cannot comment on them. -Why would want to PROLONG a meal here? We drive to Stax's Omega where the pace is relaxed and the desserts are predictably good. Prices are equal to the highest in the Upstate. Overall dining experiences are below average.
