This is Gerald Hirigoyen's casual restaurant...if you want table
cloths and higher prices, you can't beat Piperade for food nor
atmosphere...but this little gem on the edge of North Beach and China
town is a real find and a very special place for those who love tapas...

Barbara & I arrived at 5:00 PM Friday for cocktails and food. I think
that Barb made a reservation, as we got a table right away and it was crowded.
The crowd was young and peppy and seemed to be enjoying the food. I've
been to Spain twice for vacation and have had my share of free bar food,
some of it quite good. This place is quite good as well. We tried 8 different
plates between us, we drank of couple glasses each of different Spanish
wines. Wine / food pairing were compatible. The tables and chairs are
perched high in the sky, it is not comfortable seating. Prices are a
little higher than the other, older Spanish tapas places in the city,
but I think that the food quality is higher here. Service was timely,
cheerful, & knowledgeable. This will be my go-to recommendation
tapas place when friends ask
