Nikai Sushi

We made reservations at Nikai Sushi from an ad in the Jackson Hole newspaper. Some in our party of four wanted to try it out even with no an recommendation. Upon arrival the atmosphere was trendy and upbeat, however with a lacking of personnel. No one was at the front desk to greet us and finally a waiter seated us. Eventually our waiter asked for our drink orders and seemed offended that we "just wanted water". After a hard first day on the slopes we needed to hydrate first. My husband and I ordered off the "if you don't speak sushi you don't know what you are getting" entree order and the other party ordered from the sushi list. Our waiter never asked if we had any questions or could he be of help in anyway. Our party did eventually want a drink from the bar, but had to wave another waiter down to order. We finished our dinner and they still had not been served. Our waiter finally came to our table and said unapolgetically that the Sushi chefs were slammed and their food would be here as soon as they could prepare it. Atleast 30 minutes later (totally unaccepable) their sushi arrived and it was very good. With hungry appetites satisfied, and ruffled feathers smoothed (not by the staff)we decided to go for dessert. MISTAKE!!!!! After 15 minutes our waiter plops down one bowl of we do not know what and said the kitchen is out of bananas for the desserts. Then with no apology and quite an attitude told us we just had "bad timing" as for as eating with them that night. My thought is what would be a good timing? We left the unknown dessert sitting on the table and could not get out of there fast enough Such a shame a really nice restaurant can hire such lousy, imcompetent help. My recommendation is my the hassle, too many other great reataurants in the area. less
