We have been regulars for some time at the Old Salt Tavern until recently.
We went with another couple and they both ordered the Turkey Dinner.
One meal ended up with a large piece of plastic mixed with the mashed
potatoes, when we called the waitress over, she told us sorry but it
must have been one of the cooks when he opened up a new "BAG"
of mashed pototes. Apparently, they cannot be bothered to prepare
"fresh" but rather buy premade. I would expect much more
from a restaurant of this calibar. It does not speak in their favor.
We have not been back since.

The Old Salt has always been a favorite of ours. All the seafood is superb
to say the least. Scallops wrapped in bacon are the best as is the fried
scallops. And the portions are very big and well worth the trip to Hampton
to dine there. Service is top shelf and the atmosphere is like the inside
of a large wooden ship. Meals are either fried or broiled to your liking.

My husband and I went on a Saturday evening. They had a large party
at the table next to us. Apparently, they were more important.
We waited at least 35 minutes to get our entree, which was a fried
seafood platter for him, and grilled tuna for me. We got no water.
The waitress didn't give us any explanation as to why our
food was so late. We asked for a manager; my husband had to go look
for him himself after waiting ten minutes. We were missing a fork,
and had to ask for one - getting an attitude from the bus boy. When
the food came, his was cold and mine was obviously reheated. It
was dry as wood. We politely asked for new food, and finally got
it. When the bill came, they had the nerve to enter the gratuity
on the bill. Excuse me, that is up to the diner as to what kind of
food and service they get! My husband brought it up to the manager,
who argued with him about it. A TOTALLY unsatisfactory dining
experience, which ruined what was to be a romantic eveni ...
