One of the great additions to Newark. The ambiance, with the feeling
of dining in someone's contemporary/African decor, exotic,
comfortable furnishings, beautiful woods, and micro high hat
lighting. Service is impeccable, with attention to every detail
with a sense of ease. A wide range of Stop I's (appetizers) which
we preceded with a Maragarita and an Absolute gimlet up. I had
a wonderfully seasoned, crispy fresh endive salad to which bleu
cheese and walnits were added with a creamy dressing. Stop II
follwed, wfor which my husband ordered a smooth bean soup, again
seasoned to perfection. For Stop III I ordered a perfectly cooked
sirloin steak with spinach, to which bleu cheese was added, along
with a side of the finest crunchy onion slices I've ever tasted.
My husband went with a trout entree that he said melted. I cannot
comment, as I am not inlcined to fish at all.
We finished with a chocolately warm souffle, light, high, and
heavenly, which we ate in the sitting area, accompanied by a cabaret
piano player at the baby grand.
It was three ours of one of the most memorable dning experiences.
It's for the sophisticated diner who enjoys a sense of comfort
in a living room or visually escaping environment. It was a vacation
in itself.
Parking is not valet but safe. The unerground garage, directly
across the street, has a connection directly into the hotel and
the NJPAC. Easily accessible by Routes 280 and 78 East.
