I had such high hopes coming here and I left very disappointed. The service and the atmosphere was great. The food and the wine, on the other hand, were not. The wine tasted very cheap and bland. The starter bread was very dry and flavorless. The olive oil to dip it in was extremely bland. I ordered the catfish, which too spicy and the fish had a funny aftertaste. I'd like to try this place again if they add some new, more exciting dishes. All the dishes I had to choose from were very boring. For a meal that cost over $100 with tax, you expect much better.

Very nice but the spice was a little much, what do you expect for creole food though. The owner has his act together though, I liked it alot.

This is one of the few upscale restaurants on Capitol Hill, and the only one in Union Station, and even if the restaurant isn't on your route, it's worth coming here -- for the food, of course, but also to admire the restaurant's amazing interior. The dramatic dining room once served as a presidential reception room hall, and now its 30-foot-high ceilings, white marble floors, and towering Ionic columns make it a fitting place for lobbyists, senators, and other well-paid Washingtonians to discuss serious business. On weekends, the ambience lightens up and romantic couples and Southern food-loving families dine here. Background music is always mellow (Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan). The restaurant features live jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings and at Sunday brunch. The restaurant's Southern/Cajun/Creole cuisine and its quality seldom change. On offer are appetizers such as jambalaya or red beans and rice studded with andouille sausage and ... more

This food taste very authentic. My friend is fron Louisanna and he says that this food id the closest he has had since leaving home. You can tell that the the food is fresh and that they take pride in the preperation. This is definatly a winner in my book.

Want good Creole food? Stop nowhere else. B. Smith has brought the southern fare to the D.C. area appropriately. The restuarant is very classily decorated with a lounge feeling bar that has just about any single malt scotch one could think of. Wait staff, and bartenders are very professional and friendly. The food is absolutely incredible! Dessert menu is to DIE FOR and you will not go wrong here entertaining a client, date, or spouse for a nice romantic anniversary dinner. Reservations were not recommended when I called so you should be able to go on moments notice.
