Turtle’s on Little Sarasota Bay opened in 1986 and has been popular
ever since.
We had brunch there during October 2007. We were the first couple there
and the kitchen opens at 11:30.
Very nice location on Little Sarasota Bay faces East (no sunsets. Outside
seating is available.
Prices were very reasonable including bottle of Salmon Creek California
Wine for about $10. That might be is an "out of season special".
I had the Grouper sandwich and it was outstanding - grilled with just
a touch of garlic. One of the best I've had. My friend had Krunchy
Mahi which is Dolphin (NOT Flipper) and she could not finish it and had
to take a to-go box.
We like it so much we went back for dinner a couple of weeks later and had
a great experience as well. In addition to fresh seafood selections,
they offered Lamb, Veal, Steak, Pasta’s and a couple of specials.
Entre pricing in the evening was from $9 to $20 which is very low for a
waterfront location.
We will be back! ...

My group of four stayed in Siesta Key for a week. Our first meal
was at Turtles. It was so good that everytime I asked where should
we go for dinner everyone yelled "Turtles". We loved
the deck with a great view, the service was very good and helpful.
The food was so good I finished my plate (that never happens) the
deserts (I tried a little of all them) were mouth watering especially
the key lime pie. We have been back from our vacation almost a month
now and when we get together for dinner we all wish we were going
to Turtles.

My husband and I have vacationed on Siesta Key many, many times,
but never went to Turtles for dinner. Last October my husband
and I had the pleasure of dining there. Our friends who accompanied
us are year round residents of Sarasota. They suggested Turtles.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised. The menu had so much
to offer we couldn't make up our minds. Sitting out on the
deck overlooking the Bay was very relaxing. Needless to say we
all had a great time. I will be in Siesta this month and I am looking
forward to another great time at Turtles.

This restaurant has a beautiful waterfront location (on the
icw). The preferred seating is on the decks weather permitting.
However, we found the service to be interminably slow and uncoordinated
which appeared to be a problem caused by both the server and the
kitchen. Sandwiches ordered as, and promised to be hot were served
cold. Insufficient silverware, lack of napkins, soup spilled
when served and no effort made to clean it up all combined to present
a rather unpleasant meal. The homemade potato chips served were
extremely soggy with oil. A bag of Wise would have been far superior.
The place looks good but certainly didn't deliver for our visit.

You must sit on the deck (go early, say 4:30) and watch the birds
and the fish cavort in Little Sarasota Bay. A good full bar will
keep you amused, while many delicious appetizers are there to
be tried. I like the calamari, but the conch is good too. The owner
is often there (you can recognize his voice if you've ever been
to Horizons at the east end of the Cape Cod Canal--that's his too).
The menu has been improved this year, but you must have the seafood
(I'm sorry the meatloaf is off the menu, but my wife isn't--it
had veal in it.); try the shrimp au gratin. Early bird specials
and happy hour two-for-one well drinks. A great place for romance--walk
across the road to Turtle Beach, one of the Siesta Key beaches
which is remote and less crowded.
