Prices overall are moderate, especially considering the generous family-style portions. The large calamari appetizer -- "for two, " the menu says -- will almost certainly keep you in leftover land for a day or two. The menu offers real Italian home-style cooking, such as pasta e fagioli (thick macaroni-and-bean soup -- really a kind of stew). Or, try the rigatoni with veal meatballs, served with steamed escarole and melted slabs of mozzarella, or the spicy grilled boneless pork chops served with peppers and roasted potatoes. The lunch menu includes about a dozen Italian sandwiches, such as scrambled eggs and pesto, meatball, and Italian sausage.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. You must try at least something of everything. Unique salads and grilled calamari are exquisite in taste and price. The entrees are large and bursting with flavor. You cannot get enough of the unique 40's decor of this establishment. A visit must if on a date, or looking for some tastes of the traditional Chicago italian.

This is a very neat place to have either a full meal, appetizers, or just cocktails. The decor and the light jazz playing in the background makes one drift away to the days of the 40's or early 50's. The food is also very good, with an accent on great appetizers. Calamari is done to perfection. The bruschetta is perfectly seasoned, and the entrees, always changing, gives one a very hard time deciding which delectable feast to order. I highly recommend this for any person, but always a thrill to bring out of towners here.

THE FOOD HERE IS VERY GOOD. THE ATMOSPERE IS EVEN BETTER-- THINK 1940-1950S BUT VERY SEXY. THE COCKTAIL LOUNGE IS FUN WITH THE BEST JUKEBOX IN TOWN. THE MARTINI ARE TRADITIONAL AND BEYOND DESCRIPTION. I'VE BEEN GOING TO CLUB LUCKY FOR 7 YEARS AND THE FOOD IS ALWAYS AWSOME AND PERFECT TO SHARE WITH A TWOSOME OR A LARGER GROUP. START WITH THE GRILLED CALAMARI AND A SALAD-LIKE THE CLUB LUCKY OR MELROSE PEPPER. PASTAS LIKE THE 8-FINGER CAVATELLI, RIGATONI WITH VEAL MEATBALLS, OR LINGUINI OLIO WITH BROCCOLI &/0R SHRIMP CANNOT BE BEAT. IF YOU LIKE GARLIC I'D TRY THE CHICKEN VESUVIO. THE WEEKEND ARE BUSY BUT GO DURING THE WEEK AND YOU CAN GET A TABLE RIGHT AWAY. OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE A COCKTAIL AND LISTEN TO SINATRA

Club Lucky is is clean and well-maintained but it is an old-fashioned Italian restaurant with an old-fashioned menu. Their freshly baked bread is very good.
The portions are adequate, but prices are high especially for the neighborhood it is in. Yuppification has just begun.
We would not go back.

This is a fun, high energy resturaunt. The food is pretty simple, but very good. I suggest the Melrose Salad as an appetizer. The fresh baked loaf of bread is outstanding. The decor is out of 1968, (Greg Brady architect) but it's well kept and amusing. If you are looking for a hip, snotty italian place with white table cloths, this is not your place to dine. If you are looking for fun, this is a good place.

One of the worst places for food in Chicago! They don't even put olive oil on the table for you. The portions are small, the wait is long, the price is high and the food is bad. The only good thing about the place is the decor. Go to BellaVista insted.

I like the atmosphere, the bread and the anti-pasti. You can keep the rest of this place. The specials are uninspired and the menu was boring seven or eight years ago and has not changed. A block or two away is Starfish, an interesting alternative (not Italian) worth considering.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this place is so popular. Some of the worst Italian food I have had at any price in Chicago.
