Prices overall are moderate, especially considering the generous
family-style portions. The large calamari appetizer -- "for
two, " the menu says -- will almost certainly keep you in
leftover land for a day or two. The menu offers real Italian home-style
cooking, such as pasta e fagioli (thick macaroni-and-bean soup
-- really a kind of stew). Or, try the rigatoni with veal meatballs,
served with steamed escarole and melted slabs of mozzarella,
or the spicy grilled boneless pork chops served with peppers
and roasted potatoes. The lunch menu includes about a dozen Italian
sandwiches, such as scrambled eggs and pesto, meatball, and
Italian sausage.

One of the worst places for food in Chicago!
They don't even put olive oil on the table for you.
The portions are small, the wait is long, the price
is high and the food is bad. The only good thing
about the place is the decor. Go to BellaVista insted.

I like the atmosphere, the bread and the anti-pasti. You can
keep the rest of this place. The specials are uninspired and
the menu was boring seven or eight years ago and has not
changed. A block or two away is Starfish, an interesting
alternative (not Italian) worth considering.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this place
is so popular. Some of the worst Italian food I have
had at any price in Chicago.
