Many Indian buffets feature half a dozen or so greasy curries,
unidentifiable, stale from sitting out too long, and under spiced.
Not Tandoori Mahal.
Their lunch buffet (all you can eat, of course) is over a dozen
wondefully spiced and cooked dishes, and, thanks to the hungry
crowd, frequently replenished.
Everything is just as good as the ala carte selections. The Tandoori
Chicken was fragrant, meaty, and tender. The Lamb Vindaloo,
a favorite of mine in Indian cuisines, was likewise, but a lot
spicier. Even the vegetarian dishes were great.
Three plates of food required a lot of water too. Frequently delivered
by the courteous waiters.
I suspect I've had better Indian food. But not much better. And
not in San Francisco.
