We love Indian food and this was very good like always. We went on a recent Friday night and it was so crowed that we had to wait for a table. We went back the following week on Tuesday night and it was a lot better not as noisy and the service was excellent, (we received more attention). The samosas were tasty and my boyfriend loves the mint sauce (I’m not a fan but he loves the stuff). Our dinner was great as usual. Everyone should try the mango lassi it is totally awesome. The atmosphere is always improving. This time there was new lighting on the tables, which gave the place a romantic feeling. Great place to have dinner.

I wasn't impressed. My girlfriend took me there and the portions

were small and sort of bland, plus the place was very spare and

impersonal.

One of the very, very few Indian restaurants in Anchorage, much less all of Alaska. Wide variey of dishes served. To no surprise, the simpler dishes are almost always very good, while the more esoteric can be inconsistent. However, when they are good, they are very good. Different chefs?

I love Indian food!!! In my recent trip to Alaska, I had to have some, I was in withdrawal. Problem was, I couldn't find any such restaurant until I went to Anchorage. I was informed that the Bombay Deluxe was the only Indian restaurant in all of Alaska. I wasn't disappointed. We were the only anglos in the restaurant -- a good sign. While a little hard to find, Bombay Deluxe is located in the Valhalla Center, home of a few Korean shops. Not a great area of town, but it was worth the trip. This restaurant exceeds your normal Indian menu. Sure, there are the pakoras (both chicken and two vegetable types), but there are 10, yes 10 different varieties of fresh indian breads. We tried the raita, a refreshing yogurt dip with tomato and cucumber. Outstanding! There were different tandoori dishes all cooked in an authentic tandoor (clay oven). The curries were too numerous to count. I enjoyed a mild lamb curry and mattar paneer (homemade indian cheese and peas in a tomato curry). Combination dinners are available for $16 -- way too much food for one individual, each dish was excellent. Try the dal, a lentil and kidney bean soup. It was hearty and filling. I could have made a meal on just dal and one of the stuffed breads. I also had Gulab Jaman for dessert. It was a deep fried sweet cheese ball in a sugar, honey and rosewater syrup. Again, an outstanding dish. Confused as to what to order? (There are more than 50 dishes on the menu). Just walk around and look at others food, like I did, or ask the knowledgeable waitstaff. They will help you select a variety of authentic dishes and cook them to your heat/spice tolerance. Now I know why there is only one Indian restaurant in AK -- nobody can compete!
