Rustic and sophisticated at the same time. This is not your typical Italian restaurant. Be prepared for unusual and lusty flavors. Eating here really felt like being in Italy. Didn't have reservations but they were very accommodating and gracious; go early or make reservations--this small, airy restaurant fills up fast!

I dined here for the first time in July of 2003. The food was excellent. This is one of about a dozen places to go for a special occasion in Santa Barbara. It's a smallish restaunt and a bit noisy at times. But you'll most likely leave feeling you got your money's worth for a great meal in an elegant, relaxed setting.

Many Italian restaurants are more standard in fare than here, to this restaurant's benefit. Olio e Limone's food is very good, but it doesn't try for the elegance of Northern Italy. We're still in the south here. The room is small, pretty, but quite noisy due to the very hard surfaces. (12/00)

Well there a lot of places to have Italian food in Santa Barbara, and a number of them are good....BUT someone has to be #1..and in my book Olio E Limone has taken over that spot. Located just off State Street in the Victoria Court Center this place is simply some of the best Italian food in town without an "attitude". The Chef-Owner Alberto came from Prego in L.A. and his wife Elaine have created a fine dining expierence. Although small, the restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere, good service and excellent, excellent food. From the Antipasti, Pasta, Entrees, and home made desserts you will find your choices difficult to make. But since they are all very good....it is impossible to make a mistake. Menu is backed by an excellent selection of California and Italian wines. For a special occassion or before the theater this is a place to try......but I'd advise that reservations are a "must" especially on weekends or when the Theater is having performances. ... more
