You must come here for afternoon tea. It's so much fun! For $23/person,
you get a pot of tea, mini sandwiches and mini desserts. My favorite
tea is the jasmine. It has a light, delicate flavor and sweet aroma.
They also have lunch and dinner service, but I've only been there
for an afternoon tea.

One of my favorites, the delectable food & tea are worth the
$. You might even catch Chicago Symphony Orchestra conductor
Daniel Barenboim puffing on a cigar in there.

Always a treat. Used to eat lunch here fairly regularly. If you
can put up with the brusque Russian service, the food's well worth
it. Try the desserts, too - I don't eat desserts very often, but
these are pretty special.

Ate here two nights in a row. Located right next to the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra hall, it is a favorite of concert goers (I
could tell because the place cleared out right a curtain time).
All the foods that grandma use to make were here. The food tasted
great, it came out hot and the service was swift. What more could
you ask for?
I had borschet both nights. On the first night I had the Imperial
Mixed Grill - lamb, duck and a dog. The second night I ate stuffed
cabbage - the real thing. The portions are huge and I didn't finish
any of the meals. All entrees come with their own selection of
vegtables.
Finally, there is a very good selection of beers (though only
one from Russia) and very cold vodka.

available - we tried the hot ukranian and cold
traditional versions - both were delicious, swirled
with sour cream. For our entree, we had the ample
vegetarian sampler platter, meant to be shared by two.
This treat includes several types of unusual salads,
spreads, and stuffed vegatables. Even the pickled
beets were good. The black bread served with each meal
is chewly and packed with chunks of onion. No butter
needed here, but plenty is served on the side. Try the
russian tea - hot and flavorful - served in a
decorative silver cup holder. Waiters circle the room
to keep your cup filled. This is a beautiful room,
with gleaming brass and mirrors. Go early, or make a
reservation. We had no trouble getting immediate
seating at 4:30 p.m., but the place was packed by 5:15.
Worth every penny! You will not leave hungry!

Expensive for just tea and sweet munchies and lacking in
'Russian' atomsphere. Expected more for the $$$$.

This cafe is an easy walk down from the Art Institute of Chicago.
We have only been there once but it was a real treat. The atmosphere
is nice (if maybe too small!) and the food was great! One of my
friends recommended it as one of her favorite places to go to eat.
We loved the beautiful tea 'glasses'! The Russian Tea was just
wonderful.
