I had three guests recently that had not eaten Greek cuisine before. I had eaten at Greek Islands a few times before, but it had been several years. I was pleased to find that the place is just as friendly, and the food just as good as before. Good food, attentive wait staff, pleasant environment, reasonable prices....a recipe for success, it seams. It was a most enjoyable evening for me.

The most user friendly of the greek restaurants in greek town. It is clean and has a nice atmosphere and has all the standard greek dishes which are very good. I have had some better food at some of the other places on the block, but Greek islands is a safe bet.

Opa! Greektown at it's best! This restaurant offers any Greek dish that you can pronounce. And it's all pretty good, too. Service is friendly if a little rushed. Very loud and fun family place. Reasonably priced too. But order lots of different "mezes" (Greek tapas) and take some home -- they heat up great.

The standard for the greektown restautants. Everything is good, and some are great, but a little bit too much like a chain. Once in a while the waiters are rude to you, but you might be able to chalk it up to cultural differences, since I think they are all real greeks. The service is usually very fast though. A good selection of standard greek dishes.

This place is Greek to the bone. From the white marble everywhere to every employ in the place. The food was pretty good and the service matched. I probably wouldn't go there regularly, but its a nice place to take the family. Just don't plan on getting a seat in the upstairs area unless you get there very early!

On Halstead there are about a dozen Greek places in a few block area. Most are very good and Greek Islands is no exception. The food is fine (I like the Gyro platter) and of course....its always a chance to light up some cheese. Opa! Opa!!

Very reasonably priced, delicious food. The atmosphere is not memorable. We like to take groups to this restaurant, and make a dinner from the well appointed appetizer menu, sort of a Greek Tapas. Everyone can try the variety of dishes, stuff themselves and still pay a modest price of $10-12 per person (minus liquor).
