You can't go wrong with the samosas, deep-fried triangular pastries filled with minced potatoes, peas, coriander leaves and mild spices. Among other appetizers are crepes known as dosa that are made from rice and lentils or semolina and filled with various vegetables, from onions to peppers to potatoes. Still other starters come from the restaurant's clay oven: tandoori chicken, shrimp and fish.
Here's a secret for discovering the Indian style of cooking in the most non-threatening way -- and at the best price: the $9.90 buffet served every Friday and Saturday evening.
Given the restaurant's size, the broad assortment of dishes (more than 14) is especially impressive. Serving trays are monitored and frequently replenished.

Excellent, authentic food. This was my first Indian Food experience and went again over and over. Everything is tasty and well done. Outstanding.

A good lunch buffet. Nothing special, but it is enjoyable. The buffet price is right.

Great place for a quick Indian bite, but I recommend you only go here for all-you-can-eat brunch, which I believe is weekdays only. For something better and also downtown, try the India House.

I spent several weeks touring around India, including attending the birthday party for the Maharaja of Jaipur, and never had a meal I enjoyed as much as Gaylords. Granted I have had better Indian food in N.Y. and London, but not in Chicago. Gaylords is equally as good, if not better than any place on Devon.

Food not at all good. I had dinner at their Schaumburg location. I spent about $15 but got a bill for $24. If I had not checked the bill...I would have lost $9. There was no one to take care. The guy served the dinner and only came back to give the bill. No water nothing. The naan was not at all good. I was very much frustated with the service. Not at all advisable...atleast the Schaumburg location. I do not know about the other location.

excellent indian food in the downtown area. Good if you can't get up to Devon.

2nd best Indian restaurant in Chicago -- excellent food but losy service and a mandatory tip to boot! Try this at least once, when you don't care about spending more than you have to, and then compare to other, cheaper restaurants on Devon.
