We began our meal with a large Margarhita. My date and I shared a large 20 ounce drink. It was good. We started with the shrimp cocktail. We were tantalized by a picture of the appetizer as we entered the restaurant. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best) the shrimp cocktail was at best a 3. The shrimp were small and tasteless in a cocktail sauce not so reminisent of Mexico. The small bite size piece of avacado on top did little to dress up the dish. From there she had a three item combo plate and I had the Mexican steak. She chose a taco, tamale, and chicken enchalada for her three items. The dish was about $9.00 and was served with rice and beans. THe tamale and enchilada were good but the taco was served in a basic corn tortilla shell. The rice was a par-boiled rice begging for seasoning. My date used a bit of salsa from the salsa bar to spice up the rice. The beans were average topped with a white non-mexican cheese. My steak was wonderful. It was a NY cut with chilies, cheese, and avacado layered on top. The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and served with rice and beans. The salsa bar was a definite plus. We made a few trips back and forth and we tried many types of different salsas. The chips served with the salsa are thin and crunchy (served warm). Overall our experience was good. The service was good and attentive. Not the best place for Mexican food but you get a lot of bang for your buck. less
