i wasn't too impressed. everything seemed to taste the same,

I like Indian food when it is not so hot that you cannot taste the
flavors. The problem at The Royal Indian Palace is that all you
can taste is the hot spices. The delicate seasonings that make
Indian food special when mixed with hot spices are so overpowered
that the meal becomes an excersize in deciding how much you can
take before you quit instead of an enjoyable dining experience.
