This restaurant is being run in the same building and uses the same phone as Chez Renee. We had an excellent meal there, with very attentive service and fairly reasonable prices -- by Bay Area standards. The beets with gorgonzola and tasted walnuts was excellent as were the tri-layered polenta Napoleon and grilled Sea Bass. We sat outside under a kerosene heater and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

My husband and I enjoyed the Valentine's Day prix fix menu last night and found it to be excellent. Everything was beautifully prepared, artfully presented, and absolutely delicious. We especially enjoyed the butter lettuce salad with candied rose petals and toasted hazelnuts and the sauteed escolar with corn cakes and tomato confite. We'll definitely try to go again next time we're in the area.

This restaurant is a nice addition to Aptos, now occupying the space of the defunct Chez Renee restaurant, a tradition for many years. We found Southern Exposure very hospitable, cozy yet elegant. The rack of lamb was quite nice, and with the full bar and wonderful wine list, the evening was satisfying. That night special was salmon with sauce mixed with lavender. We will certainly return for more.
