Can't beat the value. Lasagna and Avanti's Special pizza are favorites, as well as the Gondola and bread. Probably the most frequented restaurent in Peoria for my family. Easy to feed family of 4 in low $20's.

The food is cheep, and although not the best, worth the money you pay for portions. The atmosphere is friendly and very casual, and I felt quite comfortable there with my 13 month old son. I would reccomend it for a bite to eat, but don't expect delicatessin, lol.

Cheap food, and plenty of it! Pretty good fare, large portions. The bread is a Peoria staple!

Avanti's menu is pretty basic, but it's known in the area for the famous "Gondola" - a ham, salami, and cheese "poor boy" type sandwich. A previous poster incorrectly mentioned the Gondola bread (which is fresh baked daily at their locations) was a sourdough creation, I know this to be untrue as I worked at Avanti's while in high school. The bread is a basic loaf of Italian bread dusted lightly in wheat flour. I personally find Avanti's sauces to be a bit lacking in overall taste.

Food is so cheaply priced, yet good, that it makes Avanti's one of my favorite restaurants. Gondola's for 3 bucks...cheap and good bread as well. The cheese soup is the best!

there are actually 2 locations, one on main and one on rockwood. both are slow, crowded, and the waiters and watiresses are rude. slow on delivery services, but good food for a change. great place for a first date... IF YOU'RE IN HIGH SCHOOL! pjk

Lifetime favorite! Modest atmosphere and simple food. It is one of the first places I visit on my return trips to the town I left more than 20 years ago. The gondola, basically a salami and cheese sandwich on a long sourdough roll is what brings me back.
