Aroma from the beans, spices, etc. This place appears to have gone way down hill from where it once was.

Yes, there are many establishments that can serve a fine meal, but none, in my opinion, can compare with 231 Ellsworth. What sets them apart from the others? Attention to detail. The food is a tapestry of flavors woven with surprising and innovative flair. The service is impeccable: attentive but not invasive. The atmosphere is warm, contemporary without being flashy, and elegant yet relaxing. This is truly an experience worth repeating, and sharing with others!

Over the years, we've eaten at 231 Ellsworth on numerous occasions, sometimes for special events, but just as many times, if not more, simply because it's good. One of the best restaurants in the SF Bay Area and perhaps the state. This is a very elegant restaurant, yet not very flashy. It has old world values of placing a premium on enjoyment of food and customers over profit; this is hard to do in the restaurant biz these days! Their food is top notch. Their desserts devine. Try their souffle or any of the pastries from their pastry chef. Oh la la. Please go and enter your review. I'd be very interested in reading others' comments.
