Bob's Big Boy has been a hang out since the 50's. Those
who were too cool for school would gather to show off their hot-rods
and discover the latest auto mods everynight before and after
cruising Van Nuys Boulevard in a parade of over-the-top lead
sleds. The food is the same now as it was then: burgers and fries
with shakes so thick they had to be eaten with a spoon. Bob's
is the last of it's breed and a thowback to post-war Southern
California.

One of the last remaining restaurants in this old time chain of
burger joints which flourished from the 1950s-1970s. Known
as TOPPS Big Boy in Illinois, and known as AZARS Big Boy in Indiana,
and known by other names in other parts of the USA. BOBS is your
typical 1950s era coffee shop and burger joint, and the food is
no different anywhere you go, no matter what the name is. Good
burgers with french fries. Enough said.

This is THE original. A 1940's "coffee shop" landmark. Good food
at good prices. Known for their Bob's Big Boy combo (an awesome
hamburger & fries). Friday nights the place truns into a car show
(I've seen everything from a Model T to a Countach). Car-hop service
on Saturday nights. Close to Burbank Studios and Warner Bros.
Studios.

A cultural landmark, this restaurant will serve you good food
at low prices. I recommend the Original Bob's Big Boy combo ...
and their Bob's Big Boy Blue Cheese dressing is out-of-this-world!
(Check out the pictures and plaques as you dine ... Being located
so close to Burbank Studios and Warner Bros. Studios, many films
have been shot there! You could be sitting in the booth that Robert
DeNiro and Val Kilmer sat in, during the filming of HEAT!) Great
Family Style restaurant, that won't drain your wallet!

How can you go wrong with the original Bob's Big Boy?? This great
"Jetsons" style 50's diner was deservedly given landmark status
for it's great roadside drive-in architecture. The original
Bob's menu is still being served with my old favorites like the
chili-size (try it over spaghetti!) and of course the Big Boy
combo. You can still get fed to the gills and out the door for under
$10 a person! The popularity of this cultural landmark always
makes for a great time people watching as well, with the young
crowd taking over on Friday and Saturday nights. A popular hang
out for the local car culture too, and on weekends a virtual automotive
museum of hot rods gathers in the parking lot. Pure fun, all-american
style!
