My son decided he wanted to go to Citronelle for his birthday so I made
the reservation and started saving up.
Dinner was, in a word, WOW. The dining room is elegant and rich, with
sparkling glasses on the table and comfortable chairs (thank goodness).
We were placed on one of the higher levels with an excellent view right
into the kitchen.
After starting with an Amuse Boche that I can't start to describe
other than to say it was wonderful, for my first course I had the lobster
"Begula Pasta." The presentation of the Begula Pasta is
something to see. The dish, served in a 'caviar' tin, is pearl
pasta cooked with squid ink under which is hidden a poached egg, toasted
brioche, hollandaise, and lobster meat. Everyone agreed it was out
of this world. My son had the Mosaic "surf and turf" carpachio.
Thin, vibrantly colored glass-like circles of fish, vegetable, and
meats are artistically arranged on a plate (he really liked the eel
and the ...

The best food I have eaten in a long time; pricey, but worth it for
a special occasion.

Spectacular food, wonderful atmosphere. Loved the staff. Everyone
is very knowledgeable, and eager to help. Bread is heavenly.
All the little touches that make a really fine restaurant are
here. I've heard the variety is a little suspect, but in two
visits, we've seen nothing but the best. Highly recommended.
Pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for.

The food here is good like any nice french restaurant, but there
is an open air kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work, which
is kinda cool and helps if you and your date suddenly find you have
nothing in common.

One of the best meals I've ever had (and I've eaten at
the Inn at Little Washington too). The food was wonderful, wonderfully
prepared. It was fun watching the chefs prepare the food in the
open kitchen. The Maitre d' was knowledgeable and helpful
as well. If you're in the mood for a splurge, go here.

OK. Citronelle simply rocks.
<br>
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Citronelle
in May 2002 (a Friday evening). It was perhaps the best fine dining
experience we've ever had. It certainly ranks up there in
the top 3 or 5. For the price, Citronelle kicks the Inn at Little
Washington's butt. We had the 9 course tasting menu which
absolutley ROCKED! If you are looking for large portions or are
expecting something to fill you to the point you are uncomfortable,
go get a pizza. If you want great food prepared expertly while
you watch (we could see each course of ours prepared) with attentive
service, go to Citronelle. Besides, they have Kistler wine (yum!).
Altogether an amazing evening.
