If you have never had TOFU served as a stew, that is (uncompressed)
then you will love your first experience here at Soon Tofu. A very
traditional style place, fancy for down home Koreans, hehehe.
You will enjoy eating here.

Just so you know what you're eating, Soon-Tofu is a type of
Tofu. "Soon" just means less processed, or raw in
Korean. It's very mushy and can't hold much of a shape.
These have less fat than your average medium cube shaped tofus.

Having said that, you've got to try their Kalbi, the korean
bbq. The owner creates the marinade at home to guard it's
top secret receipe even from her employees. Ok, so she seems a
bit paranoid but her kalbi kicks butt. Sometimes I buy pounds
of uncooked kalbi, for a weekend bbq with friends. mmm...

Great Korean restaurant serving all things tofu. The tofu cauldron
varies in intensity from plain to hot, a tasty broth which cloaks
the soy chunks and add-ins of your choice (beef, clams, shrimp,
veggies, etc.). Waitresses will then break a raw egg over it,
which eventually cooks just right in the boiling stew.

Great tofu sensation and it will satisfy even the heartiest eater.

This is probably the best and most popular tofu house in Koreantown.
it's crowded but very clean and simple decor (lighter wood furniture).
The menu is basic, you just pick the type of tofu jighae you'd like.
they also bring the rice in a stone bowl for each indidivual and
when you're almost done, they pour hot tea to make rice tea.
very nice at a very reasonable price (all stews are $7/8)
This is a CASH only place, like a lot of koreatown.

This restaurant only sells tofu stew. Their tofu is not like the
one you buy at the supermarket, they do it from scracht, and they
serve before the final step that is the compression. So you are
gonna see the tofu before becoming square. They serve this stew
in a not spicy, mild, hot and very hot version, the waitress
always ask. And their Kimchi is sooooo gooood !!! It's made in-house,
with fresh oysters, unbelievable good. And they have cucumber
kimchi too. All the stews comes with the tofu and you can choose
one ingredient, like meat, seafood, kimchi, mushroom, pork,
etc... that is cooked togheter. One of the five best Tofu restaurants
in the Koreatown.
