My wife and I stopped here for dinner in Octobe of 1998 while traveling
back to Illinois. Prior to arriving, we had spent several hours doing
the tourist thing in town, including eating ice cream. So, we were wanting
to eat something but were not all that hungry. We got the brilliant idea
of ordering some appetizers instead of main entres. Good concept,
poor execution! We ordered, I think, three appetizers which turned
out to be WAY TOO MUCH food.
It was good though. We learned a lesson.
And I do want to mention that the place is what I call "pleasant
surroundings" which is probably more of a tribute to the friendly
staff than the decor (not that it was not fine also).

Great soup - excellent clam chowder - We like the clam chowder better
than what we have eaten on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.
We've been visiting the Brass Lantern for almost twenty years
- several times per year. Hard to beat the soup / cornbread, sitting
by the front window during a snowstorm!

Ive eaten here almost every trip to the smokies, which is 2-3 times
a year. Ive always had a great meal. The restaurant is beautiful
and staff courteous. And yes they still have the best vegetable
soup around

Lunch is my favorite time of day to eat here.The vegtable soup
with cornbread(in its own iron skillet) is yummy!I had herb pizza
on my last visit and really enjoyed it.A + restaurant!
