I have been going to the Acapulco Restaurant since 1960 and have never been disappointed in the food or service. I have tried at least 10 different restaurant's and none can compare to the Acapulco in portion size, price, and friendleyness. I highly recomment the restaurant.

This was the place I had my first taste of guacamole when I moved here form SoCal in the early '70's. This is STILL the best place on EARTH for guacamole!! No frills, no Cilantro, just traditional guacamole!! We drive 25 miles past at least two dozen other Mexical places to go here, and it NEVER disappoints!! Favorite meal is the Chicken Mole with the brown sauce (either sauce will work!), but you can't go wrong with ordering a chicken burrito a la carte, add a few things, have a soda and still come out of there spending less than $10 with tip!! Try that at Chevy's, On The Border or any of your other chains!! Basic authentic Mexican food at its best!!

i've been going to acapulco for over 15 years. i've always enjoyed their combination plates. so much food you have to ask for a container before the meal! the service can be slow when it is busy..but always friendly! one has to try their huge tacos. the food comes piping hot. so yummy.

We have been going here for many years after a sail on the bay, but not because the food is great. It offends noone - typical american version of mexican food and lots of it. Lots of noise so loud sea stories don't bother others, and the beer is cold. No hard stuff, just wine and beer.

The Acapulco is the Best Mexican restaurant that I have found, if you like more traditional Mexican food. It is not trendy like Cheve?s. Their chips are crisp and fresh. They offer two salsa?s: a traditional Mild and a very spicy Hot (not for the week of tongue and you must ask for it). My favorites are their Chile Relleno?s and Taco?s. Both are large, fully loaded, and hot (most plates are delivered bubbling at your table). The Chile Relleno is largest I?ve ever seen, full of cheese, have no stem, do have a thick and delicious breading, are covered with a fine red sauce, and take up ½ the plate. The spiciness of the dishes are mild, but the heat can be increased with their Hot Sauce. This restaurant has been in Alameda since 1959 and the interior is strangely laid out due to the many years of remodeling. They only serve beer and wine, so this is not the place for margaritas, but a place to eat. They have a strong following and a ½ hour wait on the weekends is not o ... more

This is just an ordinary Mexican restaurant. You do get huge portions but I've had better food elsewhere. The place is definitely dark. On busy nights, the service can be slow. Note: If you are looking for the typical margarita, you may want to go elswhere. Acapulco only has a wine & beer license so your margarita will be a wine margarita, not tequila.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant. There is a lot of buzz about it in the east bay. My opinion it is very average, with horrible chips and salsa. the entrees were ok, but very plentiful. I believe this is where most of it's reputation comes from. some people associate quantity with quality.

If this is the best Mexican food that Alameda has to offer thenI won't be eating Mexican food in Alameda. The food was not very good and arrived way too hot! It was bubbling on the plate. After 5 minutes of waiting, I stillcouldn't eat it.Even the salsa and chips was very disappointing! On top of that the prices were much too high for this run of mill food.I've had MUCH better food at half the price.
