I had not been to this place in years and now I remember why. I called in
a take-out order--they told me twenty minutes. I had to wait another
10 minutes, although they were only serving three other customers.
I ordered unagi donburi and it was the skimpiest offering I ever saw!
I got a few leaves of lettuce with some watery salad dressing and a few
slices of unagi over rice. That was it! And the bill came to $15.21. I
gave the waitress $16 and looked back for my change. She smiled and stuck
the change in the tip jar and said, "Thank you!"
At that point, I just wanted to get the heck out of there, so I let her have
the 80 cents and left.

Although the rolls cost about $8-10, you really need to get two. But
the selection is great and the sushi is very fresh. Friendly people
and a very small dining area. Great sushi. I would definitely go again.

Very good food, but a little bit too pricy with what you got.

As a trainer for the 9-1-1 Public Safety arena and a professional
vocalist who travels around the nation quite often, I have had
the opportunity to try many sushi restaurants and have never
visted one that provided me with top quality food, a great price,
and excellent service like Young at Sushi Ya! Thanks for having
up..

Sushi-Ya is FANTASTIC! The foods are amazingly delicious and
the owner, (Young) is always greeting his customers with joy.
And to top it all off, the service is fanominal. I reccomend other
Bay Area people to come by sushi-ya and enjoy your time there!

I feel it is necessary to put my two words in, it is after all, only
fair.
I have tasted a lot of sushi in the Bay Area and elsewhere and Sushi
Ya has the finest sushi in the Bay Area.
The dining is intimate, the food is exciting and innovative and
the atmosphere is wonderful and Young is great.
I know that once everyone knows about Sushi Ya they will be storming
the doors and for that I wish I could
keep it our "little secret" but sometimes one has
to do what has to do and wax about the food.

Thanks Young for making the dining experience a wonderful one.

We have tried many other sushi places, but keep coming back to
Sushi-ya. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, and the owner (Young)
goes out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable and involved
in the experience! He learned our names and greets us with such
excitement! And the food is great! There are a ton of choices and
even when we found our favorites, Young will take the time to make
something new for us to try. We have always had a great experience
going to Sushi-ya. I hate that I have to drive so far to get there
(living in Walnut Creek!), but it is worth the gas! I would recommend
this restaraunt to anyone looking for a fun place with great sushi!

Talk about a true treasure!!! Sushi-Ya is fantastic. Great atmosphere
that makes it perfect for a first date or a night out with the family.
Young not only prepares the outstanding food, but enjoy's
getting to know his patrons. If you are new to sushi, I hihgly recommend
this place. Young will walk you through the basics, and happily
substitue things you like in place of those things you don't
like so much.
I have enjoyed sushi for many years, but this place is top notch.
A MUST FOR ANYONE IN THE EAST BAY!!!

Friends invited us out for sushi to Sushi-Ya. Everything was
excellent. The rolls are creative and delicious. This is by far
the best sushi I have had since moving to the Bay area a year ago.
