Well-worth the trip and the money. This building dates back to
Revolutionary War times and is very charming, creating a relaxed
atmosphere. Dependent upon the time of year, you can dine indoors
or outdoors on the patio.

I last ate here with a party of 6 on Friday, September 30, 2005 and
the meal was exquisite. Being the adventurous-type, I had the
foie grace (duck liver) and garlic-buttered escargot for an
appetizer. For those in my party less inclined to the exotic,
they had German-style potato pancakes and the beef barley soup
or the pumpkin soup.

The entrees were eclectic and prepared with care and expertise.
I had the Ahi Tuna Steak, ordered black and blue, and a friend of

Dinner with Greg Gibson, Sue Bagen, and Peter Ludlow. Harrald's in a
white cottage which reminds of a French country inn, serves a fixed
price menu for a 6 course dinner ($65.) I started with carpaccio of
beef which was tender and had a spicy tarragon vinegarette. Next was
Harrald's salad with real blue cheese crumbled at the table. That was
followed by sorbet and the entre'. I had poached salmon which was
prepared perfectly with a white wine & caper sauce. It was accompanied
by asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Next came desert which was a
selection (at the table of 6 gorgeous selections. I had the creme
brulee. Finally, a cart was wheeled out with 5 selections of
cheese. We tried a little of each and everyone agreed they had never
tasted cheese as good. Harrald's was definately a 5 star experience in
every way.
