My friend always relies on me to be the "litmus test" for German food (I think it's because my parents emigrated here from Germany ). The food here is really good. We ordered a sampler platter: weiner schnitzel, sauerbraten, a smoked pork chop, a variety a wursts, with spaetzle, and potato dumplings, and red cabbage. Delicious -- and way more than two hungry people could manage to eat! The service was cheerful and enthusiastic. Our waitress had no problem talking us into a few beers, as well as dessert. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. And yes, I'd recommend this place to my parents :o)

Warm, comfortable atmosphere. Excellent service (ask for Rasa - she's wonderful). Although their specialty seems to be German food, I had the Maine lobster boil, which was excellent. My husband had the Seared Chicken Breast Forestierre, which comes with marsala mushroom sauce & mashed potatoes. I'll be getting that next time! Their salads are incredible. I highly recommend the Meridiana salad which has baby greens, artichokes, tomatoes & feta cheese, tossed with a sweet basil vinaigrette. They have an extensive wine list and several German beers to choose from (don't ask for a Miller Lite, though...). You could easily drive right by this place, it's hidden in an industrial park right off Pchtree Industrial Blvd., but I recommend reservations on the weekend as it fills up fast.

Kurt's is one of my favorite restaurants in the Duluth area. The Greman fare is excellent. The Wenier Snitzel (spelling is probably wrong here but you get the idea(G))is the best item on the menu. I have found the service to be spotty. At time it is good, and other times not so hot. The atmosphere is great.
