Boy, am I glad the Bay Area has a dim sum and seafood restaurant of this quality!! It's probably worth living in the Bay Area alone! When my wife and I were living in Hong Kong, we don't recall having any cravings for a particular dim sum restaurant there (except for a Chiu Chow Dim sum place, but that's a different story). However, every so often, we crave for Koi Palace and make the trip and wait for our table. We have never been disappointed with the food nor the service. The variety (from Cantonese to Chiu Chow to Northern Style) and quality of dim sum cannot be beat anywhere. Unlike other places (ABC Seafood, Mayflower, HK Flower Lounge, etc.), the dim sum servers say thank you (at least in Cantonese) as you pick a delicious plate of dim sum off of their carts. Since the place is always crowded, turnover is very high, thus your dim sum has hardly had time to cool and always arrives fresh. Yes, the wait can be daunting for some, but well worth it for the food ... more
