I found the food to be incredibly bland and one-dimensional in
flavor. It is on the healthier side of what most people think of
as French cuisine, but nothing special. The restaurant is quite
small, service is classically pretentious.

Fabulous food with a real French atmosphere. Here is the place to
sit back, relax and take your time. Don't even attempt to rush a
meal - the raison d'etre of this restaurant is that good food
and good wine require time for full enjoyment. Although the wine list is
small, there are some little treasures on it at impressively low
prices. Ask the knowledgeable staff and tell you what's what.

Wonderful "Cuisine Bourgeoise." A contrast to
restaurants that perform pyrotechnic feats with
exotic foie gras or caviar, or nouvelle "do I eat
it or snort it" cuisine. Chez Sophie serves great
soups, composed salads, main courses and desserts.
My salt-phobic partner is always pleased -- they
have a light hand with the sodiumstuff. We recently
have had a lovely tomato bisque, cold cucumber soup,
salmon in beurre rouge, veal sweetbreads in a
vol au vont, lapin a la moutarde (bunny :),
pasta, mango sorbet, chocolate cake. Highly
recommended. Dinner for two w/wine, tax and tip
is about $65-$95.
