Excellent jewel of a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. The Buckhorn is primarily a casual surf and turf restaurant in downtown Winters - a small town North of Vacaville about 20 minutes away from UC Davis. As the name implies, meat dishes are the primary forte. Excellent steaks, prime rib, soups and salads. If you're on your way to Lake Berryesa, or travelling up near UC Davis, stop off here for dinner. Watch your driving, VERY carefully after exiting the Interstate and heading into Winters. The Winters PD are big-time into writing lots of tickets for anything they can hit you for.

I'VE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES...ALWAYS ON A THURSDAY NITE AND ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME THING: THE GERMAN POTATO SOUP AND SALAD. IT'S ALL YOU CAN EAT AND THEIR GERMAN POTATO SOUP IS THE FINEST I'VE EVER EATEN. THEY USE THE PRIME RIB AND BAKED POTATOES LEFT FROM THE NITE BEFORE AND EVERY SPOONFUL IS HEAVENLY. THE SALAD IS STANDARD FARE, BUT I GO FOR THE SOUP! AND YOU CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE FOR ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!!
