My husband is not a fan of Italian (even though I love Italian)
and he thinks this is the best Italian he has had ever. We had the
fritto misto appetizer, the spaghetti & clams, and the Steak
Frites. This place is superb and the desserts out of this world.
We had dinner out on the patio and the decor/ambience was wonderful.

My boyfriend and I went here for our Valentine's weekend. I ordered
the rack of lamb which was very flavorable with the right au jus
and peppery taste. The dessert menu had a grand selection and
one cannot go wrong. It is a very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere
and food. However, good luck in finding parking in the small lot!

We love this place from the decor to the incredible food. The brick
oven fish is fantastic with simple flavors of roasted garlic
and herbs. If the spinach salad is on the daily menu you must try
it. Everything we have tried here is an A+ along with the service.

re I agree with the other reviews---in an area of high price
restaurants and too much pomp and aloofness this restaurant
is refreshing. We were a party of 6---three from another
country and experienced multi-lingual travelers. The waiter,
though very young looking, was very knowledgible and adept
at pronouncing the names of the wines correctly and knowing
the ingredients of the food, spices etc. He himself acknowledged
not all the waiters shared his knowledge---I regret we did not
get his name to pass on as a recommendation.
Maybe we were just lucky this particular Saturday evening, but
we had a four star experience for very reasonable prices.

The wine country restaurant where the locals (who know better) eat. I get
to the Napa Valley on business and this is were my colleagues who live there
want to go. Excellent quality, convenient to the city of Napa, lovely setting
despite the fact it's on the highway, and an excellent value given this is
the land of overpriced restaurants.

This is an excellent, professional restaurant!! We were
seated promptly at our reservation time on a Friday evening.
The servers and bus staff were very well-trained, which is
something you don't generally find these days. Fritto misto
appetizer was exceptional, as well as the entrees (we stayed
with paste). A little letdown on caesar salad (needed
lemon). Can't say enough about the food, decor (a full room
but you could carry on a coversation) and service. Our
silverware was changed for each of the three courses,
without asking -- water filled and you didn't even realize
it. Yes, I'd go back there again in a minute!!!

One of the jewels in the Napa Valley Crown. Not as big and flashy as
Domaine Chandon, more genteel than Mustards, Bistro Don Giovani seems
to hit the sweet spot for the times you want a great meal, a great
wine list without excessive pretention.
Reservations are a must. Even with reservations, be prepared to wait
at the crowded bar.
Nevertheless, it's worth the wait. The apetizers are varied and well
prepared. the entrees are Continental with a California Eclectic twist
or two. Deserts are very good but I've seldom have room left to try
them. the wine list is extensive and a bit expensive.
The ambience in the afternoon is diminished by the crowds in the
evening but still seems to retain a romantic flair.

Despite the closeness to the main highway, the interior of
the restaurant is another world- warm and festive, but with
a touch of class. We even found it romantic in a way. It is
easier to get a reservation at this restaurant than, say,
Domaine Chandon, Tra Vigne, or even Brix. However, we did
have to wait 20 min to be seated. Appetizers are around
$6-10 while entrees are $15-20. It has been a while since
my girlfriend and I have eaten there, but I recall a
wonderful appetizer consisting of clams in a rich and earthy
tomato-based broth. The two us shared a pork chop and a
pizza, both skillfully prepared and very tasty. However, we
were eyeing the salmon dish at the table next to us. This is
a solid restaurant that is easy to get to and not too
pricey. Definitely worth dropping by on the way back from a
day of wine-tasting.
