Very good Calamari, so tender, I love it!!! Everything I have eaten there has been very good over the years. I'll keep going back for more and I definitely recommend it.

Very good seafood here, combined with a nice view if you're lucky enough to score a window seat! The service can be pretentious, but just humor them and enjoy your meal. Calamari melts in your mouth and the appetizers are great. Chowder is creamy and so smooth, salads are bountiful and the wine list compliments the food nicely. Very good, worth the walk to the end of the wharf.

The food is abundant and good. I was really amazed at the amount of seafood you get for the price. I'd rather eat at a place like this than a fancy expensive place. Unfortunately, they didn't have any calamari the day I was there.

Every time that I have eaten here, the service has been impeccable. All the waiters/waitresses go out of their way constantly to ensure that you are provided the ultimate dining experience. However they aren't standing on your shoulder; it is definitely well-balanced service. The location is of course gorgeous; most seats have great views of the bay. The food is great; their specialty is the calamari and they have it available in many different ways. For an appetizer I recommend the combination platter which comes with portions of all their marinated dishes. The bill can be a little pricey, but well worth it if you want excellent food with even better service.

This is a great spot for casual but cozy lunch. The menu offers a great variety of inexpensive dishes such as pastas, seafood, pizza and steaks. The calamari is great and it is a great restaurant for couples as well as families.

Excellent food for the money. A fine selection of seafood. Service was outstanding, not busy when we were there. Atmosphere cozy but not fancy.

Calimari, calimari, Squid, or whatever you like to call it. I havn't been to a finer restaurant. My first encounter of seafood was at this wonderful delicious tasting restarant, and on the wharf and such a perfect view of the bay. When I was a young girl around 10 or 11 my family would get together and enjoy some great food. I love their pasta, and I really enjoy the Squid and Chips. If you eat here, then you must try this dish. It's been a while since I have been here, but I will soon make a trip out to the wharf.

I've eaten here 20 times. I consider this the best of the Monterey Wharf restaurants. The Italian dishes are quite good, if not textbook authentic. The antipasti bar selection is good, they use quality items. A brick oven cooks the pizzas. The pastas are cooked al dente, with sauces that are freshly prepared. Of course seafood dishes should be selected here. The calamari meals I have eaten here have always pleased. The service staff are competent and upbeat. The bar has an adequate selection of liquor, wines and beers. California wines are predominant, with a good Chard or Cabernet costing $20-25. If you have to eat on the Monterey Wharf all first time tourists should be required to do so), this is the place to go. By the way, a rudimentary deli next door is owned by the restaurant which is good for a quick, finger food snack. Food is prepared in the same kitchen. The Sicilian style pizza is great!

I believe Abalonetti means "little abalone" and refers to the abalone substitute, calamari. We have been returning for many years now to this favorite on the wharf and have seen it evolve from a fish market/checkered table cloth restaurant into a seafood trattoria serving a range of delicious seafood preparations.
