I visited for New Year's eve in 2005/2006. They had 2 dinner seatings and I went to the quieter 1st seating. The 2nd seating had dancing and the band was just getting setup when we were leaving. This is the place for meat lovers. The menu for New Year's eve was different than their regular menu. It was a 7 course fixe prix and every course was excellent. The service was good too. I'd like to go back and try their regular menu sometime.

I've eaten at the "best" restaurants in many cities, and Manka's is not only one of the very best in the San Francisco bay area, but one of the best in the world. The food is always superb--creative without being fussy.

I've eaten at the "best" restaurants in many cities, and Manka's is not only one of the very best in the San Francisco bay area, but one of the best in the world. The food is always superb--creative without being fussy. Many of the entrees are cooked on the open wood fireplace. Monday night is "locals" night with smaller portions at smaller prices--it's a great night to go and order more than one entree per person so everyone at the table can enjoy the variety. The lodge itself is beautifully rustic with rooms and cabins that look like what a movie art director would think a rustic cabin would look like--extremely elegant and beautifully detailed. This is one of those very special places where everything is right--every time you go. It looks far on the map, but it's really just an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and well worth the beautiful drive through the redwoods.

One of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. Pricy by the time you're done with wine, appetizers, and dessert, but absolutely worth it. A place you would never expect to find out in West Marin. Or would you? Worth a drive from Cleveland.
