IF YOU ARE CRAZY ABOUT SUSHI, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. BEING JAPANESE, I HAVE GONE TO EVERY JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN BELMONT-MILLBRAE AREA AND I AM TELLING YOU THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST SUSHI IN THE AREA. THIS PLACE DOES NOT MAKE THOSE FANCY SUSHI WITH THOSE FUNKY NAMES (EX. PHILIDELPHIA SUSHI W/ CREAM CHEESE), BUT A STANDARD DELICIOUS JAPANESE SUSHI. THIS PLACE IS SMALL, SO BE PREPARED TO WAIT. MY RECOMMANDATION IS TO GO DURING THE OFF-HOUR, THEN THERE IS NO WAITING. IF YOU WANT SUSHI, I RECOMMAND EATING AT THE SUSHI BAR INSTEAD OF THE TABLE. SAM, THE OWNER, MAY NOT SPEAK THE GREATEST ENGLISH, BUT TALK TO HIM. HE'S ONE COOL GUY WHO'LL MAKE YOU LAUGH. DRESS CASUALLY. WEARING A SUIT, YOU'LL BE OVERDRESSED. IF SAM'S IS TOO BUSY, THEN YOU SHOULD TRY MUTSU, WHICH IS 2 BLOCKS AWAY. THIS PLACE IS NOT RATED IN THE GUIDE, BUT IT IS THE 2ND BEST PLACE TO EAT SUSHI. THIS PLACE IS ALSO SMALL. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SOME OTHER EXCELLENT JAPANESE RESTAURANTS IN THE SAN MATEO AREA, E-MAIL ME AT: ... more

This is a small, friendly sushi restaurant. The place is packed, packed, packed, with many more lined outside waiting for open tables. Be prepared to wait a long time if you come on a weekend night around 7:00PM. The sushi is good, but not spectacular by any means. The sushi I got during their busiest times were really poorly made - rice sloppily made into the sushi shape. Maybe the quality of their prepartion is better when they're not on a hectic schedule. Good sushi, but I wouldn't consider this high quality sushi.

The best thing about this restaurant is the prices of the items! You can really make your money stretch a long way here. It is often extremely crowded and you feel very rushed because people are waiting for your table to be cleared so . The service staff is not the friendliest, but it's not all that bad. Definitely try it out!

The best sushi in the Bay Area! Consistently fresh, generous portions, friendly and consistent service. The restaurant is popular, small, and very busy, so be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it.
