Again!!! extra stars to the Spring Rolls and peanut sauce!!
<br>
The environment:
is charming and unassuming, a comfortable place for lunch, not
crowed yet, not empty (we arrived at 1pm.). This is a nice place
to meet one can talk openly.
Table placement:
White clean and pressed table cloths under glass, (the clear
plastic feet at each corner of the glass was an elevating touch.)
Service:
Ice water with limon, and smiling polite service. Attentive
without being pushy.
Meals:
The meals come very quickly, fresh and hot, and way, way (too)
ample in serving. We ordered an appetizer, two entrées and rice,
and left with at least three full meals including extra rice.
(Expect to pack your own doggy bag lunch box, at lunch this is fitting.)
Double-plus:
Five maybe even an extra star to the Spring rolls and peanut sauce!!
Cautions:
The flavoring are subtle, the vegetables are fresh, so if overtly
spicy and gooey flaccid food is ...

Dined here tonight for the second time in a few weeks. Our waiter
was clearly new and very overwhelmed and confused by just about
everything which was kinda annoying because it just kept getting
worse. We ordered the hot & sour soup, lemon chicken, and
the chicken w/ asparagus in blk bean sauce. Hot and sour soup is
very good though a tad to sweet, but worth ordering again anyhow.
Pretty spicy to if you don't like your nose running profusely
ask for it mild. The asparagus chicken (which you can also get
w/ green beans instead) was packed w/ sliced asparagus and barely
any chicken, but tasted good nonetheless. The lemon chicken
looked like an appetizer as it was half moon shapes of battered
"chicken" w/ a small side dish of lemon glaze sauce.
Was an odd looking entree, but it was very tasty and would order
again. If the asparagus chicken had much more chicken I'd
order that again, but they just don't give you enough worth
ordering for. I'd g ...

I stopped dining here about 2 years ago when I was sick of the tiny
potions barely enough to fill 2 people. Decided to try it again
since it's been so long and there are so few completely vegetarian
restaurants once you leave San Francisco. Was pleasantly surprise
and glad I went. Decor was totally different. Used to be bland
and bright and now it's dim and has a unique bamboo themed
Asian look which is very relaxing. Our server was very friendly
and helpful. Emphasizing that their water is drinkable because
they buy spring water oppose to using the typical disgusting
tap water and also emphasized their lemonade was fresh opposed
to the gross powdered crap or pre-packaged crap most restaurants
provide. I was very impressed w/ this as those are 2 of my pet peeves
w/ restaurants and it's difficult to find non-tap water
and actual fresh lemonade even at higher end restaurants. My
mom and I ordered the Hot & Sour soup, the spicy pork and rice
dish and spring ...

My first visit to White Lotus was on a date- and we are still dating
more
than a year later! If I can recommend anything (and I would probably
recommend all of their dishes) it would have to be their Vegetable
Soup.
It is hot, fresh, full of firm (not soggy by any means) vegetables,
rice noodles, and tofu in a light vegetable broth. I have midnight
cravings for this stuff! A single order feeds three well, as long
as it is a first course.
The White Lotus itself leaves a little to be desired- the building
looks like it was a deli or something of the like before the White
Lotus
moved in, the feel of a walk up a la carte place has not quite been
demolished by the silk plants and tablecloths. I also get the
feeling that I need to wash my hands after sitting down- it is not
the cleanest place out there.
As long as you like trying interesting dishes, and aren't TOO
sanitary, the White Lotus is wholeheartedly recommended by
me.

The White Lotus has always been sort of a touchy issue with
me.. but there are a few things that keep me coming back.
Maybe it is the decor or the amount of people that go to it
at night.. it is about the only vegetarian restaurant in the
south bay that feels like a place to sit down and eat a
dinner.. however, I can't say I really care for the
menu.. with one exception. Their vegetarian spring rolls
are heavenly! Fresh mint, rice noodles, lettuce and firm
tofu bits wrapped in chewy rice sheets, served with a mildly
spicy sauce topped with chopped peanuts.. The other dishes
though inevitably fall short, being either too bland ( their
meat dishes ).. too dry ( their vermacelli )or too rubbery (
their tofu ). Try Great Vegi Land instead!

Outstanding food. If you like fake-meat dishes, there are plenty of
good ones (and an excellent "fried fish" made with konbu and
I-don't-know-what-else). Even if you don't, the soups are great
(esp. banana leaf, and pumpkin), as are the spring and summer
rolls. Nothing's particularly spicy, which would normally send me out
the door, but the other flavors more than compensate. Some very
unusual (for restaurants in the U.S.) dishes like preserved bitter
mustard greens will make your head swim. I've seen skeptical
corporate carnivores walk away surprised and satisfied, which wouldn't
typically be a recommendation on my part, but this vegan eats there
every chance he gets, and so should you.

I guess it's just a matter of taste, but when I went to this
restaurant a few years ago with two friends, I was quite
disappointed. I had a tofu platter that was so unpleasantly seasoned
that I only ate a few bites before abandoning it (the only tofu dish
I've ever had that I just couldn't eat). My companions both had
pseudo-meat dishes that were rubbery and disgusting. After eating at
this restaurant I realized that I really hate pseudo-meat cuisine--
give me plain old vegetables and tofu any day. We all vowed we would
never go back.

One of the best! Excellent spring/summer rolls. The
entrees include vermicilli rice noodles with tofu and
gluten and tomato stuffed with vegetables and tofu,
Nice ambiance as well. Located in downtown San Jo
