CHART HOUSE CORP HAD LEASED THE PROPERTY SINCE 1977. LANDRYS
CORP, WHO HAVE BOUGHT OUT THE CHART HOUSE CHAIN, DO NOT WANT THE
MONTARA RESTAURANT AND THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY WILL BE RUNNING
THE RESTAURANT AS "THE MONTARA BEACH OUTRIGGER FISH AND STEAK
HOUSE".THERE WILL BE 5 DIFFERENT STEAKS (INCLUDING THE BASEBALL
CUT), PRIME RIB, CHICKEN, RIBS, FISH AND SEAFOOD WITH A SEAFOOD
HOT POT DISH, MANY DIFFERENT SALADS ALONG WITH THE SALAD BAR.
THEY HOPE TO OPEN NO LATER THAN NOV 01, 2002. THEY ARE WAITING FOR
THE LIQUOR LICENSE AND CLEANING, FIXING AND REFURBISHING. HOPE
EVERYONE WILL GIVE IT A TRY.

Chart House corp. has been going downhill for quite some time.
As of August 1, 2002, Landry's seafood, another large corporation
has acquired all 39 Chart House restaurants.
Hopefully there will be a big difference in the near future.

Sad to see what has happened to the Chart House chain
letely. While the setting and the view at the Montara
Chart House are wonderful, and the "team" seems to
trying very hard, the menu changes that have taken
place have reduced the pleasure of dining several
notches from the past. The steaks and seafood have
alwasy been wonderful at these restaurants, but the
corporate changes that have taken over have reduced
the number of steak offerings to a limited few (hey,
whatever happened to my baseball teriyaki?). And now
access to the the salad bar is not included with your
meal, but an ala carte extra. Hmm, I think that most
of us will vote with our feet and not make a return
trip until some of the old standards return to the
new corporate environment. Management, please take
heed...

A bit expensive but the view is breathtaking. Definitely worth
the price. The food is fairly good as well. The pepper fillet mignon
was cookedto perfection and appetizers are quite tasty. A must try.

On the expensive side, but that's to be expected to something
with an ocean view.
I've always loved this chain's Prime Rib, but last time they
were too tender (if one can complain about that), maybe next
time I'll tell them to cook it a tad more.
Very much enjoyed the staff's Hawaiian outfits. Even though
it can be a romantic place, but the weekend I was in, it was
crowded and noisy enough to made it no my ideal date restaurant.
Should put some tint on those Windows panes, afternoon's sun can
be brutal (for a supposely romantic place).

Food is pretty good. View is even better!
Not really a family place... more on the
romantic side. Dessert was the best!
Good prices for nice sized portions. I
would definately go again!

The food is pretty good, but not outstanding, and I do not
recommend this for families with children, unless the kids
like steak too!

Lobster excellent. Ahi Tuna a little dry, but will cook to order.
Excellent Prime Rib (Two sizes)
Excellent salad bar. Good wine list at reasonable prices.
Service friendly and helpful.
A good view of ocean, especially at sundown. Nice ambiance.
This restaurant is part of a national chain.
Building fits nicely into natural surroundings. Next to Montara State
Beach.
This Chart House is trying to recover from the loss of business when
Devils Slide was closed.
We will return.
