While the service is spotty at best, the food is great
and the atmosphere is definitely British. It's a great
place to spend an evening playing darts or cards or
watching a soccer game. (The help doesn't seem to mind
people hanging around...Truely unusual in this day-and-
age.)
They (of course) have a wide variety of beers and a
smallish menu...The chicken pie I had last night was
wonderful!

I started here just to order the beer...the stout is
thick and bitter, served cold but not chilled, as it
should be! ;-). The Newcastle and Watneys are good too,
Then, it turned out one day that I was hungry and
ordered the fish and chips. It was very good. I have
since returned fairly often for dinner, and find the
Shephards' pie and other meat pies good too.
Service is rather slow, and it is really crowded.
