We enjoyed dinner at Mustard's. The grilled quail was wonderful. The calamari first course was very good, but had far too much cabbage. The taste of all the food was excellent. Very crowded and noisy.

Not what it was 15 years ago -- but how many California restaurants have lasted 15 years? Green salad with blue cheese had too much blue cheese. Carribbean-style fish with black beans and salsa had fish that was quite some time out of the water (and this was a special, so there's no excuse) and black beans that had been sitting out way too long. On the plus side, the wine list is large for a small restaurant and has some hard-to-find interesting wines. We didn't have any trouble waiting with a reservation at 5:30 on a Monday.

We heard the French Laundry was over-rated, so we decided to go here. What a great find it was! The salad was fabulous with the feta cheese and sun dried tomato. And yes, the crab cakes was the best I have ever had here. I enjoyed my steak there very much. The boyfriend was dazzled by the rack of lamb - so tender, yet rustic sweet. He is a great lover of coffee and he mentioned that the coffee here was simply grandeur. One cannot go wrong with the dessert menu here. Nice, cozy place with a pleasant warmth from the bustling waiters and the friendly people. We will definitely go here again.

This s a great restaurant to try out. The food is outstanding

and everything on the menu is great. We have taken customers

there many times and always walked out full and happy. You can bring your own wine and pay a corkage fee. The last time there, we did not have reservations. We were told

is was an hour wait but if we wanted to'hover' at the bar there was agood chance someone would finish up and we could get there seats. Within 15 minutes, we were ordering our diner. Great fun.

It is very difficult to obtain reservations. I called on a Thursday for Friday night was told nothing was available but I could call at 8:30 Friday morning to see if the status changed. Some poor family forgot to confirm and lost their table. After all of this to get in we had to wait 1/2 hour to get a table. The tables are too close together and you feel like you can't really have a conversation. The service was lacking and people that were seated after us got their food before us. Believe me we did not order anything difficult. The food was ok - but nothing to shout about. Their wines by the glass we yuk! (Don't get the "zin" worst I have ever had) For all the difficulty getting in I would probably never go back. You can tell this is part of a "chain" (Fog City, etc)

Reservations are strongly suggested otherwise one could wait up to an hour for seating. The atmosphere is loud but not too intrusive, although I weas there at 2pm on a Sunday. The service is good despite overcrowding and noise. The grilled truckstop steak is excellent with a wonderful marinade flavor, done medium to perfection. The pok chop entree is also spectacular. The grilled garlic lemon chicken is good, comes with mashed potatos are very close to "mom's" if one wants comfort food. The ahi tuna appetizer is excellent. Dessert: Jack Daniel's chocolate mint cake YUM! and Lemon pudding souffle with strawberries. Expresso average. Wine list is extensive (3600), specializing mostly in Cabernets. The bread served was poor, tasted like day old Safeway. I recommend the grilled entrees overall, very good. I heard the portions were small; however, our party of four all had ample portions if not large. (burp!) :) enjoy!

This is an interesting place. We've had some great meals and a couple that were just OK. We love their onion rings with homemade catsup. I'd never tasted homemade catsup before and it really makes a difference. Just don't eat too many of them like we did the last time. Their desserts can be spectacular. On our last visit, I had a lemon tart that is going to sound strange, but take it from a dessert lover, it was unbelievable. It starts with a tart crust, rich, flakey and buttery. That is filled with a rich lemon filling that is very strong on the lemon, which I love. The filling is crowned with about 6 inches of meringue that has a trace of caramel flavor. I know it sounds wierd, but it works. I thought about this dessert for days afterwards. Their entrees have been inconsistent. And the place can get quite noisy as others have said. The waiters and waitresses have always been great.

Food was good. Service a bit rushed. The taste on the entrees was delicious. Recommended if you can get in.

Good place if you want 'mom's home cooking' and not a typical restaurant meal. Much too loud (wooden floor doesn't help) and always too crowded. Food was OK, nothing special. Typical 'diner' type stuff. Good wine list, but if you are wine tasting all day, who cares? Cheap meal if you don't feel like going home to cook, but a dining 'experience' it's not. The night we went, too many kids making too much noise and parents didn't care. Enough to give you indegestion.

Excellent California-style cuisine. Go for the wood- grilled specials if you can-- their mahi-mahi special was particularly outstanding. I also second the applause for the ahi appetizer mentioned above. Entrees are a bit small, but let you save room for dessert-- the chocolate-anise creme brulee (sounds bizarre, but true) was truly a memorable experience.
